Remember the old George Jones song, "The Race is On"? Well, the race really is on as far as online education. More and more courses are being offered online by more and more real, brick-and-mortar colleges and universities. They can see the handwriting on the wall, so to speak.

The cost of providing a child with a college education is increasing faster than a speeding bullet. It has outdistanced the financial abilities of most American families today.

Young people who go to college must make student loans that they will spend the first 10 years of gainful employment paying off -- and these are the ones who have scholarships. Those without scholarships can spend 15 or 20 years paying off student loans.

When the same courses can be completed online for half the cost, it is no wonder that more and more students are turning to online education. And, of course, that means that more and more colleges and universities are offering more and more courses online.

Even big business is catching on. There was a time when a degree acquired through an online college or university was worth less than nothing to the giants of business...but that is just simply no longer the case.

More and more online degrees are accepted for exactly what they are...degrees. Of course, the college or university that issues these degrees does still matter a great deal.

There are all of those degree-generating mills out there where a degree can be bought. Those are easily recognized and worthless.

The ones that come from legitimate online colleges and universities, however, are just as valuable as those obtained on the traditional college campus.

Is online education really changing? Is it the wave of the future? Yes, indeed!

Online education is changing...for the better! Yes...it IS the wave of the future!
