If you take care of your teeth, you reap the results as you get older. Keeping your teeth healthy should be part of your lifestyle, and such lifestyle should start from infancy and should be maintained until adulthood. With a healthy lifestyle that involves keeping your teeth healthy, you prevent experiencing teeth problems from time to time.
Keeping your Teeth Healthy From Infancy
When a child is born, his set of teeth is more or less formed already--they are just sort of hiding under the gums. Teeth formation and growth is important to child's advancement. Teeth let your baby chew their good, project a nice smile, and most specially talk well.
So, how would your take care of your baby's so you can keep them healthy?
1. Always clean the new teeth, it should be done everyday. Rubbing the new teeth gently using a clean wet washcloth is cleaning. If the teeth are already big, you can use toothbrush for baby.
2. If your baby is two years old and below, don't let them use toothpaste yet. Water is
enough.
3. Don't allow your baby to sleep with a bottle because it can cause tooth decay. Babies bottled at night are prone to tooth-decays.
4. Teach them to eat healthy food like low-sugar snack, fruits, and vegetables.
5. Instruct them to brush their teeth regularly and tell them the importance of doing such action.
6. Bring your children to the dentist as regular as possible. It is recommended by American Dental Association that children should start visiting their dentist when they reach one year old.
Keeping Your Teeth Healthy From Teen to Adulthood
Teens should always keep their breath with pleasant smell. Taking good care of your teeth will not just keep them healthy but will prevent cavities. This can also enhance your smile.
Here are some suggestions as to how you can keep your teeth healthy as you reach your teenage life until adulthood.
1. Brushing your teeth at least twice a day using fluoride toothpaste will take the cavities away.
2. Flossing your teeth everyday at least once will also be very helpful.
3. Controlling yourself from engaging with dangerous habits like smoking or chewing of tobacco. This doesn't only get your teeth stained but can also give you bad breath.
4. If you are into sports, you should wear headgear for protection, not just for your teeth but for your whole face as well.
5. Have your teeth checked up regularly. You can also resort to teeth cleanings.
6. If you are taking medications, you ask your doctor if the medicines can cause side effects which can harm your teeth. Example of side effect is drying of mouth.
Finally, you should always seek the help and assistance of your dentist whenever you want to know something about your teeth. Your dentist would be a great help in keeping your teeth healthy at all times.
