If you are like most people, you just don't realize how many kids today drop out of school. I, for one, didn't think that this was still such a big problem, mainly because I have been out of school for so many years. In my day, most of the kids that ever dropped out were because of some girls having babies too young and the schools not letting them finish their schooling or the boys just leaving school to go into the service of this country.

At this time, the boys could just quit school and enlist in any of the armed forces and no one thought badly of them. But in this day in age, you have to have this diploma to be able to get almost any kind of job even if it is washing dishes. Our schools are supposed to be keeping track of all of their dropout rates, and these findings are to be turned into the state's school boards and their funding are basic on these findings. But most of these schools found loopholes in their system so that they were able to get away with having a lot of dropouts or just keep it the same.

So all that this means in terms of our children going to school and staying there hasn't changed at all. Our country was one of the biggest in terms of industrial growth, but with our children not being able to stay in school or just not wanting to stay in school, it is starting to take its toll on our way of life as a whole.

We, as parents with help from these teachers, pay their salaries and really need to come together and find some level of teaching that will help these troubled students want to stay in school, if for no other reason but to make something out of themselves.

If the child just doesn't think that they need to finish their schooling, then we need to try to make them see what their lives might turn out like before it becomes a fact. This might be one way to really make their eyes open to the fact that they won't get anywhere without this education and that diploma. Show them what having this diploma can help them get in terms of a job and to have a better lifestyle than maybe their parents did.
